(same as S_A_ST 4850; cross-leveled with HIST 7850). The traveler’s tale formed an important part of the medieval world’s system of knowledge. This writing intensive seminar-style course examines a wide array of the most influential travelers in Muslim lands such as Ibn Fadlan, Ibn Battuta, Benjamin of Tudela and Marco Polo. Prerequisites: junior standing.
