Learn to write about complex topics so that your audience understands and relates to the issues. Students are challenged to become critical thinkers by evaluating and revising business documents. Discuss the free flow of information to the public in a democratic society, media literacy and becoming a discerning consumer of information. Ethical issues related to communicating in the workplace. Through practical application, learn skills in writing effective business messages: positive, negative, and persuasive messages. Learn to apply basic rules of grammar to written communications. Identify the purpose and audience for a written document and organize the information needed to write it. Develop and demonstrate oral presentation skills. Prerequisites: ENGLSH 1000 and sophomore standing.
