This course explores various facets of ancient urban and rural life in the Roman world through the exceptionally well-preserved archaeological remains found in and around Pompeii. By the end of the course, students will be able to identify the different types of source material available for exploring Pompeii, including architecture, art, material culture, ecofacts and human remains, and use archaeological evidence to analyze aspects of ancient Roman culture. Graded on A-F basis only. Prerequisites: Honors eligibility required.
