Investigates athletic display in ancient Greek and Roman culture, from its earliest representations in Greek literature to the massive spectacles of the Roman empire, with an emphasis on the intersections between sport and spectacle and other areas of ancient cultural life. Prerequisites: AMS 1060 or instructor’s consent required.
