(cross-leveled with ANTHRO 7620). This course covers the archaeology of North America from the earliest human settlers to the historic period. Students will be able to define and summarize key archaeological cultures (e.g., Paleoindians, Mississippian culture); describe the subsistence strategies, territories, trade relationships, and social structures of these past people; and analyze explanations for significant aspects of cultural development across the region and through time. Recommended: ANTHRO 2020 or ANTHRO 2021.
