This course is a broad introduction to the history of photography from its emergence as a new medium in the 1830s to its pervasive digital forms in the present. It will familiarize students with key technological developments, major figures, important genres, and essential aesthetic and critical debates. Recommended: ARH_VS 1130 or the equivalent.
