Constitutional Democracy
College of Arts and Science

An interdisciplinary capstone-eligible course for Constitutional Democracy majors that is also open to students pursuing other degrees, CNST_DEM 4971 focuses on a specific theme at the intersection of political history, political thought, and related disciplines and is taught in the manner of a graduate seminar – i.e., as a small, discussion-based class in which students produce a substantial term paper at the end of the semester. The specific theme on which the course focuses will vary semester-to-semester, depending on the expertise of the professor teaching the course, but all themes will be expansive enough to ensure that course readings and discussions draw on topics that relate to each of the major’s four concentration areas – U.S. & the World, Politics & Policy, Law & Institutions, Social & Political Thought. Graded on A-F basis only.
