(same as SPAN 3885, PORT 3885). Broad overview of the major national cinemas of the 21st century in South America. Approximately 14 feature films screened from Argentina, Brazil, Chile and other nations of the region. Instructor provides a thematic framework for films within the context of film theory, Latin American cinematic history and cultural studies. Course taught in English. Graded on A-F basis only. Prerequisites: ENGLSH 1000 or ENGLSH 1000H.
