This course introduces computational thinking skills, including inferential (statistical) thinking and algorithmic thinking through instructor-supported computer programming. Key topics include exploratory data analysis, probability and prediction, and statistical tests and modeling, all taught through hands-on data analysis using basic Python programming. Assuming no prior knowledge of statistics or programming, this course is designed as a scaffold to prepare students – especially those from non-STEM backgrounds – for data-related tasks in library and information science, learning technologies, and various other disciplines, including the humanities and social sciences. Graded on A-F basis only.
