This course investigates the historical, political, and economic origins of racialized Italian identity and how Black Italians claim national space and establish a salubrious identity for themselves via various art forms as well as community and political organizing, thus creating positive representations for a pluricultural, multiethnic Italy. No knowledge of Italian required. Graded on A-F basis only. Prerequisites: Sophomore standing or ENGLSH 1000.
