(same as WGST 4716; cross-leveled with JOURN 7716, WGST 7716). This class examines the intersections of gender, race, sexuality, class, and media. The goal of this course is to examine gender politics and media representation through intersectional feminist perspectives. Throughout the semester, students and the instructor will analyze how feminist theories and practices interact with media representation, identity politics, media production, and media reception. Graded on A-F basis only. Prerequisites: C- or better in JOURN 1000 or JOURN 1100 and 60 credit hours (junior standing).
