Survey of Minority and Creole Languages of the U.S. and the Caribbean

(same as SPAN 3710 and FRENCH 3710). Analysis of the state of the minority languages of the U.S. and the Creole languages of the Caribbean with particular attention to the social status of these languages and speakers’ attitudes toward them in context of ethnic, cultural, and national identity (taught in English). Prerequisites: sophomore standing.
