The framework of this course emerged in the aftermath of 2021’s Taliban takeover in Afghanistan after a 20-year war with the United States. The course draws on different academic disciplines to understand the recent history of the military involvement of the United States in Afghanistan, and the complexity of peace, violence, and ethnic nationalism in this region. The course is open to students of any major at the University of Missouri. Graded on A-F basis only. Recommended: PEA_ST 1050, PEA_ST 2016.
