Philosophical issues related to Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models. For example, issues concerning the moral and political consequences of AI use; questions about the nature of AI, such as whether we can say that an LLM understands language, or that it has beliefs, or that it makes assertions. Prerequisites: Sophomore standing or higher required. Recommended: One other Philosophy class.
