Public Affairs
College of Arts and Science
(same as POL_SC 4320). Public policy is the ultimate product of politics – it is, at least nominally, the reason we care about politics. Government’s decisions and actions (and, just as importantly, its indecision and inaction) have major consequences for the economy, the environment, and individuals. Why does government choose to address the problems it does? How does it decide what to do? What determines if it succeeds or fails in solving those problems? Who controls this process, if anyone? Graded on A-F basis only. Prerequisites: POL_SC 1100 or PUB_AF 1000. May be restricted to majors only during Early Registration.
