This course examines the social, cultural, economic, and political dimensions of disasters. Students will analyze various types of disasters, their impacts on communities, and the role of social institutions in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. The course will focus primarily on disasters in the U.S. context. Graded on A-F basis only. Recommended: SOCIOL 1000.
