This course will discuss the biological basis for genetic diseases, including inherited diseases and non-inherited diseases such as cancer. The units will include an introduction providing necessary background information, as section studying the technology used to study genetic diseases and several units discussing specific diseases and their impact on history and society. This course is intended for non-science majors. Cannot be used to satisfy degree requirements for biology major or biology minor. Prerequisites: BIO_SC 1010.
